Dear Baby,

On 1st April, we saw you for the 3rd time on the scanning machine. Mummy did not put on any weight since 3 weeks ago, wonder if it is due to the stress level taking its toll on me. (Mummy still weighed 60.8kg). This appointment we will see you for a much longer time coz Dr Chen needs to measure your neck skin thickness, and this requires some co-operation from you, little baby. The moment Mummy lied down on the bed and Dr Chen started the scan, Dr Chen said "Here is your baby!' The excited Mummy almost sat up to take a closer look at you, baby. And the mischevious you also sat up in my tummy! The initial position of you lying down was the best position to measure your neck skin thickness, so with Mummy that stunt, Dr Chen couldn't measure you at all. So she showed us your little head, your eyes, your umblical cord, your legs (you crossed them at the ankles!), your arms, in fact the whole of you! You finally settled down after a good whole 5 minutes later and allowed Dr Chen to measure you properly. The measurement is 1mm, which is a very good and positive measurement. And you, little baby, measured 5.49cm!

Dr Chen switched on the amplifier and let Mummy and Daddy listen to your heartbeat, it sounded like many horses galloping and Mummy was very excited about hearing you for the first time, and let out a laugh, the laugh was also magnified in the amplifier, and it sounded like a distorted and very low-pitched laughter. Hahahahahahaha

Thereafter Dr Chen drew blood from Mummy and Daddy, for some tests. The results will be out in 2 days time, and Dr Chen will call Mummy to inform Mummy of the results. Daddy and Mummy had a worrying Thursday, until Friday Dr Chen called Mummy to inform me that the results were very good, possibility of DS is very very low (1 in 17,000).

Joanna (Dr Chen's clinic assistant) also went through the package with us. The package starts at Week 16 all the way till birth, going to set Daddy back by $1250 which is due the next visit. We have decided to deliver in Mount A, and Daddy wants to let Mummy stay in the 1-bedder ward so that he can accompany Mummy throughout the hospital stay. Mummy actually hopes to stay in the 4-bedder coz Mummy wants to make frens with other Mummies and also save some money for Daddy. Daddy has been spending a lot of money on Mummy ever since we discovered Mummy is pregnant with you. Anyway we shall see how it goes nearer to the due date!

Am so happy to know that you are growing well inside Mummy's tummy, shall see you at the next visit which is on 30 April (Thursday) and we will be able to find out your gender (if you co-operate!)!!! And then will be SHOPPING TIME for Mummy and Daddy! :)

With Lotsa Love,
Your Ever Loving Mummy
